Why Choose Aluminium Shutters and Blinds

Why Choose Aluminium Shutters and Blinds

Not sure what the best material for your new blinds or shutters is? One of our favourites is aluminium as it has benefits both inside and outside your home. Keep reading to find out what options you have and why we love it so much!

Options for choosing an aluminium window covering

Indoor shutters

Indoor aluminium shutters are a versatile option for your home and are easy to use. Simply rotate the slats to adjust the angle of the blinds to either let in more light, change the direction of incoming light, or to block it out entirely.

All of our indoor shutters are available in slat widths ranging from 46mm to 114mm, depending on the look you're going for!

Outdoor shutters

When choosing window coverings for your patio or alfresco area, outdoor shutters are one of the best options!

Outdoor shutters offer:

  • Protection from the wind
  • Added security measures
  • Temperature regulation of your area

We have aluminium as an option for outdoor sliding door plantation shutters as well as hinged and standard plantation shutters.

Aluminium blinds

Aluminium Venetians blinds are one of our most popular indoor blind options for your home.

These blinds are affordable, simple to use, and can be installed throughout your home.

Why choose aluminium window coverings

Long lasting

Aluminium is a highly durable material and is therefore fairly resistant to possible damage or breakage.

As a result, aluminium blinds are a great investment since they require little upkeep and rarely need replacing.

Child and pet safe

If you have kids or pets, having a hard wearing window covering like aluminium means they're less susceptible to damage!

Suitable for wet areas

As aluminium is water resistant, these shutters or blinds make for an excellent choice for any area in your home, including any wet or humid areas, like your bathroom, laundry, and kitchen.

Unlike other materials which don't do as well in wet or humid spaces, aluminium window coverings allow you to have the same coverings throughout your entire home if that's something important to you.

Insulating

Aluminium can also offer great insulating benefits for your home, as it reflects heat back at the source rather than just slowing down the flow of heat like other materials.

Available in different colours

One of the biggest misconceptions about aluminium blinds and shutters is that they are only available in the standard silver/grey colour that aluminium naturally is. This isn't the case. Aluminium can be painted in many colour options, so they can perfectly fit in with your home design aesthetic.

There's an option to fit your budget

Regardless of what your budget is, there's an aluminium option to work for you. If you have a smaller budget, aluminium Venetians are perfect as they have a low price point, but still provide you with a high quality, long lasting and value adding blind.

If you want a more of a top end option, aluminium shutters are your go-to. While these are a more expensive option for your home, they'll last you a long time, and it's suggested that having shutters installed can help boost the resale price of your home.

How to clean aluminium venetian blinds and shutters

Maintaining your blinds and shutters should be a part of your regular cleaning schedule.

The best way to clean them is to use a microfiber cloth and run your hand over each of the slats to wipe off any dust that's built up.

If you find that you can't get all the way between each slat, a cleaning hack to try is to use an old (clean) sock, place it on your hand and then wipe over each slat. This gives you a bit more coverage to get in those hard to reach areas between your slats, without trying to keep hold of your cloth.

Every few months, it's good to give your blinds and shutters a wipe down, again using a microfiber cloth, but this time dampen it with warm, soapy water.

Are aluminium shutters better than PVC?

The material you choose depends heavily on where you want to install your blinds.

Both aluminium and PVC are good options for window coverings, but the main difference is that aluminium is a stronger material so is likely to last you longer.

Especially in wet areas, you can choose both PVC and aluminium, but with PVC you need to be a bit more careful with water exposure.
