ABC Blinds Founder Turns 90!
One third of the sibling-trio responsible for revolutionising window treatments in WA, Ernie Brice is celebrating his 90th birthday in Perth this week.
Meet ABC Founder, Ernie
Ernie was born on November 22, 1926 - the same year as Marilyn Monroe, Queen Elizabeth II and David Attenborough - and immigrated to Perth with his family in 1969. Ernie found his calling when, after noticing a gap in the market, he started Kresta Blinds with his brothers, bringing vertical blinds to WA and rocketing to success as one of the largest blind retailers in the country.
After a blockbuster career, Ernie shunned retirement in 2002 in favour of starting up another company – ABC Blinds – which today employs over 160 local West Aussies and continues to provide stylish and innovative blinds and awnings to homes all over Australia.
True to form, Ernie is still very much involved in the day-to-day running of ABC Blinds. He works part-time, regularly contributes to meetings and mentors his sons and ABC Blinds co-managing directors, Mark and Mel Brice, to continue his legacy as a trusted and knowledgeable authority on blinds in Australia.
As we toast to the milestone birthday of Ernie today, we’re also thrilled to celebrate the launch of our ‘new look’ website – another exciting step towards ensuring ABC Blinds continues to demonstrate the innovation and entrepreneurial nature of Ernie and his brothers.
It’s an incredible feeling, to reflect on how far we’ve come.
