New Year, New Blinds – Style Predictions for 2017

Forget crash diets and another useless gym membership – why not make your new year’s resolution something that’ll spark joy, improve your lifestyle and add value to your home? Now we’re talking.

Our 2017 Blinds Predictions

If you’re renovating, building a new home or just wanting to update your blinds for the new year, look out for the following trends to include in 2017, courtesy of Perth interior style guru, Eskay Design.

Interior Design Trends from Eskay Design

Window treatments are often one of the last finishes added to a new home, but don’t underestimate their importance! They finish and fill, soften and add value to your home. The incoming colour trends for 2017 are moving away from the polished, minimalist look of the past few years. New colour palettes are all about embracing the natural world and our awareness of our environment, through texture, colour and pattern.

Earth and Sky

This colour palette is about a relaxed boho style, with soothing, earthy colours and the just the right amount of rusticity. Think sunbaked pinks, terracotta hues and deep, mysterious grey-blues, against soft, floating sheers in whites and pale, earthy tones.

Organic Botanic

Indoor plants are just the beginning for this interior design trend, set to reach new heights of popularity in 2017. Perfect for the ‘green thumb urban dweller’, go for window dressings in whites and neutral shades, or try natural green tones in curtains or sheers as a one-off feature.

Hand Made Era

Drawing inspiration from the ‘digital detox’, this colour range embraces the slow, old technologies and art. The palette includes burnt orange, cement hues and bright ochre – think homemade objects with raw, natural edges. For window dressings, go for timber blinds or try rich, textured linens for curtains and sheers with splashes of colour and pattern – nothing too polished!

Designer Tips

Wall-to-wall curtains
Hanging wall-to-wall curtains can help fill and soften a space, without the need for additional furniture, art or accessories.

Use white and cream together
Neutral or cream colour schemes still need contrast to avoid looking bland. Introducing whites will help break up the more traditional ‘cream’ look.

Vertisheers add value
For greater mass appeal, use texture and subtle pattern in your window treatments rather than a colour.
